Parnell, an important thing to remember about FDA approval (EPA as well) is that it is permission to sell, not a guarantee of sales. It is a great thing though to scare some of the more skittish shorts into covering, and to get unsophisticated investors to put in market orders to buy, resulting in an unsustainable spike in the near term. The fact that BTIM did not gap up more is not a sign of strength, as it indicates that enough of yesterday's shareholders were willing to settle for only 25% over yesterdays close in order to let go of their shares. With the huge short interest BTIM has, it should have been a more significant gap.
