In my opinion they do not ask for enough information nor do they indicate any security will be provided for what you give them. All the information in their application can be obtained from other sources. The information has to be given out again and again to vendors.

However they do check out your application before they mail you the card. That gives them the opportunity to verify you are who you say you are. Whether they do that or just issue cards routinely????

Also they ask for your email address and give you no assurance that they will not be selling it to everyone.

Lastly you still have to give all of the info again and again to every web site you order from.

==========

I envision the digitalme credit card somewhat differently. There has to be some information in the vault which is not routinely accumulated. I mean something like your eldest childs date of birth. The color of your wife's hair. Your shoe size. Something that you can easily know but a thief can't. These items would be used by the vault for random verification. This information should be placed on record at the time of the application.

Internet credit cards should not be issued without more thorough credit scrutiny than is applied to plastic for obvious reasons.

Finally the ecard described doesn't have the primary characteristic of digitalme, a system of ordering from vendors that doesn't require you to enter your credit card and personal information to every vendor for verification. Our motto is verification once at the vault.

There also is no explicit control over your id in the ecard system. You just give them your email address and now they have that linked to your SS# and your address etc. etc. One more piece of info linked into the database they have on you. IF they sell someone your email address and your mailing address they diminish your digital identity by making even more information public.

With a digitalme based credit card it has to be explicit that the information will not be sold and is only for verification purposes at the vault.

Plenty of room here for digitalme to win over other approaches.
