Cacaito, sorry your wrong. No competitor! <g> XOMA makes this protein. This is the explanation of why the P III trial is continuing. They want to convince a potential buyer of the rights to Thaumatin that there is a big market for it.

Thaumatin, a control cationic protein

Cacaito, kidding, serious, crazy, rambling but XOMA BPI patents always point out how always there is a potential for it to work better in vivo than in vitro. They always also say they are not 100% sure of how it works. How sure is anyone Thaumatin really is a placebo?

If one does not know how BPI works how the heck do they know how Thaumatin doesn't work?
