CTII--CytoTherapeutics
(encapsulated cell and stem cell area)
A very "sexy" area indeed, this is the
type of stock that will absolutely fly
on a news event, the traders seem to know
the symbol, and somebody had it as their
pick for the year--some traders newsletter.
At one point I had loaded up on quite a few
shares...since then I came to my senses and
pared things back to sort of an averaged-sized
position for me of just a fewK of shares.

GMED which has merged with Megabios seems to
jumped through the necessary hoops to survive
for awhile. Fits in with my gene therapy angle.
The new company will be called Valentis.

Hyseq-just a dart. Hey, I'm a gambler. Oh I've
read the Yahoo and SI threads, but I really
don't know very much about the DNA chip business.
Seems like it will be a very exciting area in
the years ahead...could have just bought affx,
but that would not be in my character to go for
something obvious (and perhaps fairly priced).

Hyseq, with its partner, PE Corporation
(formerly known as The Perkin-Elmer Corporation)
offers the only universal sequencing chip through
their HyChip(TM) Early Access Program.

Information about Hyseq is available on the WWW
at hyseq.com

NTII SIBI TGEN VMRX

NTI has been covered on the thread, many
repeated posts, and a very good summary of
a chat with the ceo is there.

Sibia also has a lot of good posts in the
thread, I re-read them recently...plus a
few good press releases of late. I have a
few neuros in the "portfolio", sibi is probably
the best of the bunch, but again, that is just
the flavor I get from reading everything--
I have no freakin' idea about any of the
science.

TGEN is a gene therapy stock--I hope to see
it get some good press with the upcoming
BIO '99 conference here in Seattle. I guess
I am overweight that subsector--With Ariad,
GMED/MBIO.

VMRX was a choice between Aastrom and that--
I flipped a coin (really, I did!).
