They did make many companies to retroactively correct the "pooling od interest" loophole. AOL may not get away with it this time. They got away with a lot of accounting gimmicks before 1996, and had to take a big write-off to correct it in 1996.

Srini thank you for the article on cash flow valuations. It's apparent that
most all analysts are still trying to get a handle on valuing the Internet
companies. Cash flow valuations would paint a clear picture in many cases.

I will leave that argument to the experts which I am clearly not one of.

Hmmm. Perhaps stacking the AOL board with Al Haig, and Colin Powell (and who knows who else in high places) will pay off in spades.
