I couldn't get into that article, but here's the interesting thing:

I'm sure a bunch of people came away impressed with the future of Windows CE. However, I don't believe that Microsoft can just release a "realtime" OS and be successful. Wind has many years of R&D in VxWorks, it can't be beaten by Microsoft that quickly.
