I don't know how it could be interpreted as insidious, but here's the story to clarify things: (3/27/99) Seattle company aids Belgrade broadcast archives.seattletimes.com Highlights Authorities shut down Radio B92 on Wednesday shortly before NATO forces began bombing military installations in Serbia and Kosovo. Unable to broadcast over the airwaves, the pop-music and news station turned to the Internet, where interest in what the station had to report was so high its Web site was quickly filled to capacity. In stepped RealNetworks, which donated its streaming software, RealPlayer, to make it possible for anyone with a 28-kbps modem to receive audio and video of the broadcast. "Basically, we're providing them with enough capacity to handle all of the listeners who want to tune in to their signal on the Internet," said Mark Hall, the company's manager of media publishing.
