This is actually very bad news. It will reduce profit. The people signed up already will
quit, and try to resign and get the free PC. People who do not want to use AOL will
not sign up just because of the free PC. It also shows the competition is heating up,
and AOL has to respond to other ISP provider's offer os free PC.

::sigh::

Did you even read what I posted? Do yourself a favor and browse through this months issue of PC Magazine. Read Dvorak's column. Why would people quit AOL, just so they could get a bare bones internet PC and then have to pay for 2 years of service? To get the free PC, you must sign a 2 year contract. So, if the PC cost basis was say $250, but the service contract brings in $527, you do the math.

BTW, this is all pure speculation. Something to think about. No press releases - AOL is mum. But if you fail to see the impact something like this could have, you shouldn't be near this stock - short or long.

Let us also speculate that AOL wil acquire Real Networks. Mind you, it is pricey. But it would fit in nicely for the future broadband play and AOL TV. That would probably drag the stock down 20 points, right?

I'll laugh all the way to the bank ...

S.

This is actually very bad news. >>>>

Are you sure it is Smart Investor...or could it be Smart A*s ??

I suspect if AOL announced revenue tripled, subsribers increase 1000% a month.....They signed an agreement to be sole provider for all of Earth, Mars and Pluto...they bought microsoft and, well you get my point...you would still find some way to put a negative spin on things. I think you shorts have your shorts a little too tight around the neck.....is it getting hard to breath ???

If I say the cubs will win the world series...eventually, I will probably get it correct...but I sure do look like some giant ass for the last 60 years or whatever I've been wrong.

Do you not have anything better to do then to keep making yourself look like a stupid investor, rather then a smart investor.....Maybe you should have SI Bob change your name...sorry to be so harsh...thought you were interesting to listen to at first, but now I see you are just a downright negative person....it wouldn't matter what AOL did..it still would not be good enough for you.

C'mon, tell the truth...you reallylove this stock...don't ya ? You just can't stand the fact you missed it while it was lower. ??

Smart Invertor:
A simple trace on your profile shows that you are getting pissed off due to your perception that AOL is the main competitor to your
beloved Softy. I think you have a point.
Regarding ISP competition, it is not new to AOL. It has been there
since Prodigy days and AOL has withered it.
One simple reason why AOL will be the company that can beat MSFT's market cap. NYSE does n't want to leave that coveted position to Nasdaq. So there will be support for AOL from the Street all the way.
Mark my word: Don't bet against the Street and feel jealousy of its new, young and vibrant darling AOL.
