Right, but part of the initial excitement about the XCIT purchase came from folks who thought that meant @home wanted to control the portal to the internet. The links you provided show that Cox would probably be unwilling to give up even that much to ATHM. Cox also wants to control the portal. That's why they are spending so much to develop city pages where they have TV stations or cable outlets.

My point was that even as a part of @home, Excite won't become the default portal for all @home subscribers because some cable operators like Cox will want to keep that part of the business for themselves.
