Flodyie - I never heard of the term. It probably means that the Technician is knowledgeable to install and repair Fiber Optic Cables. Usually, it's the younger union workers who show the most aptitude that are sent to Fiber Optic School.

My brother-in -Law has spent months in training on Fiber Optic Cable classes. The technology and equipment keeps improving in leaps and bounds. Only a small percentage of the union workers are sent to the In-House training programs, with all expenses paid.

I have another brother-in-law that is a Stanford Ph.D and he designs fiber optics Cabling for Lucent.

Either one could leave their company they can get a job in a minute.
