There is TASKBAR OPTIONS & START MENU PROGRAMS. I don't find a
"start-up" to double click on.

Right click on your Start button then explore
that should show you everything that is on the start task bar
click the + on Programs then open the Startup folder.
This is where any programs that automatically start when you turn
on your computer are
These are only shortcuts and can be deleted if you do not want
them to constantly run in the background
Some programs put a shortcut there when you install them

you can move these shortcuts to a separate folder if your not
quite sure you want to remove them and put them back later
if you want

hope this helps
Alf

d. Alexander,

Re: There is TASKBAR OPTIONS & START MENU PROGRAMS. I don't find a "start-up" to double click on. Don't think I should remove the Start Menu Programs or how would I find Accessories & open up that neat Resource Meter? Thanks for all the help.

Sorry, Proper path should have been START>>>SETTINGS>>>TASKBAR&START MENU PROGRAMS>>>tab of START MENU PROGRAMS>>>tab of ADVANCED...This brings up your directory. Click on PROGRAM DIRECTORY to open it up, then click on START UP...This will show you what programs are set to run when you start up your machine. Many times when you install software, the program will add an automatic start feature to your screen that is not necessary. On my machine that was hungry for resources, I deleted ALL programs in that menu. Mind you, that this DOES NOT delete the program, just the auto start feature. If you still wish to use the program, you can still run it manually OR add it back to your startup menu. Since you're using Win98, the goal is to have as FEW of those little icons in the bottom right hand corner of your screen.

Also, I guarantee you that running two SOL programs will zap your resources quickly. To avoid this, I bought four identical monitors so don't have that problem at all.

Good luck. I'll be out of town for a few days so won't be able to respond back for a week.
