Ditchdigger; I think that has already happened. I mean .30/sh. Why do you think the stock has not appreciated with all the great PR's since january 99?

All Good Regards;

Paul

I see your reasoning, in order to get the most shares for your buck. But, I don't think they're shorting against the box. Why?

1. They do not have fungible securities. The debentures are restricted as to their sale or transfer.

2. There is no stock around. I have personally checked. I would have liked to have hedged my position ---42% downdraft since Monday would have been a nice trade.

3. Even if the debentures were freely transferable, the broker still has to go out and borrow shares. Even in my personal case, I told my stock loan dept. no problem, I'm long. Their response, "Nice talkin' to ya."

4. Even if all of the above was possible, Ditch, the short has to go out on an up bid tick, and to make any kind of money, you have to sell size. There is no market for size. As evidence, see what a few hundred thousand did today. There weren't many up tick bids to handle the paper

That said, and come to fruition, do the debenture holders then expect the stock to rise to whatever level? Or do they care, having made what profit they desire?

>>>The big question,will they short against
the box
(arbitrage) to lock in more profits,which in turn,in all probablity would drive the price
down,resulting in more shares on conversion..This is also why these are referred to as
"death spiral" debentures..If they are real good,they can convert and cover there
short,resulting in a higher price(from the buying) and then short the block again and start
all over(remember we're talking a lot of stock to work the market with)..DD <<<<

In effect controlling the stock price and milking for a very long time. With no downside.
