Quite right, Scott. If my comment confusing, sorry.

A "clean" stream makes all the difference in a user's perceived experience. Have never failed to detect streaming audio latency in a common dial-up connection. A wider pipe solves this problem, thus perceived "sound quality" is higher. With streaming MP3 (such as it is), the effect of drop outs can be even more noticeable as expectations start out higher.
