There are all sorts of monitors available for 50% off on that offer.
I was interested most in the TFT LCD monitors. The one with 18.1" of viewing area, gives about 1" Diagonally more area than my current Viewsonic 19" monitors. Forget what a manufacturer says about the size of their monitor.... look at the Viewable area... That's what counts. Most 21" monitors have less than 20" of viewable area, and so forth.

The next important thing to consider is resolution and refresh rate. The software I will be using is the ATTAIN system... which will work good at 1280 by 1024 resolution. Those numbers represent how many pixels up/down and across the screen are available to make pictures and text out of. The higher the resolution, the more information you can display at a time on your screen. (But with any given monitor, as you increase the resolution, you decrease the size of what you are looking at - ie: on your current monitor, if your resolution was set to 640 by 480, you would not get very much on a screen, but what is on the screen would be very big. Now, change your screen to 1024 by 768 and you can see a lot more information, but everything is smaller)

The third thing to consider is refresh rate, or horizontal scan....
The higher the better (generally) and you want the monitor you use to have at least a 75Hz refresh rate AT THE RESOLUTION that you intend to use it.

I hope that gives you a little info on what to look for. The monitor is now the most expensive thing in a system, so you try to get the Best Monitor you can get, and get a system to go along with it.
