Y'know, I had the same experience after a rather extensive sinus surgery about 15 years ago. The next morning, when I was waiting to be released from the hospital, they wouldn't give me any pain medication. So I got up out of the wheelchair and staggered down the hallway raising hell. These idiots are scared to death of having the federal government hassle them for issuing schedule-whatever drugs, so they simply don't give them out when they are needed. Well, to hell with that, the pain just fueled my anger and I made sure they were just as unhappy as I was. The hospital later sent along some extensive questionnaire asking how I had been treated, I think they were afraid I was going to sue them. Maybe I should have.
