Natural Microsystems sees Q1 loss below estimates

FRAMINGHAM, Mass., April 1 (Reuters) - Natural MicroSystems Corp (Nasdaq:NMSS - news) said
Thursday it expects to report a first quarter share loss of between $0.30 and $0.32, well below analysts
estimates and year-ago results.

The technology company added that it expects revenue for the first quarter to be about $16.5 million versus
$20.0 million in the first quarter of fiscal 1998.

The expected shortfalls stem from continued softness in its traditional market and slower-than-expected revenue growth from new
projects.

Wall Street estimates forecast first quarter earnings to show a loss of $0.19 per share, according to First Call Corp, compared to
prior-year first quarter profit of $0.19 per share.

Natural MicroSystems said it expects to release actual financial results on April 15.
