Re: Probably some shorts driving APCC down.

Nope. Actually, they're cashing out and if anything, the shorts are propping the stock price up somewhat. You can see the short interest numbers for APCC (or any other NASDAQ stock) at:

viwes.com

The short interest ratio has been dropping since Dec98. Also the absolute number of shares sold short has been dropping with the exception of a small uptick this month.

As you said though, the technicals on APCC look pretty grim. I do like it on fundamentals though. This combination keeps me on the sidelines with this one, waiting for the technicals to turn.

Your point is well taken. I would have partially hedged by selling some calls against my long position, but my IRA prohibits it, so I just have to rely on my belief that this company will reward value investors. At any rate, judging by today's action, we can easily see that the common needn't be at the strike to generate a significant uptick in the calls. As noted earlier, I anticipate being out of this position well before expiration with a solid "Roth non-taxable" profit.
