Brian Hayward guided the Invesco Worldwide Communications fund to a
23.95% gain by buying "Internet enablers," such as networker Cisco Systems,
phone giant MCI WorldCom and equipment-maker Lucent Technologies.
Hayward's favorite 'Net-related play: companies that make fiber-optic lines,
such as Global Crossing.

The fund boss thinks that telecom stocks will keep outpacing the rest of the
market, owing to rising demand from businesses. "If a company wants to
function in the world economy, it has to have an adequate communication
system," he argues. "It's simple."
