What? I agree with your comments. If California did indeed make that statement, it just goes to show how out of touch some beaurocrats are with the 'real world' and business. Hydrogen Fuel Cells, Electric Powered Cars... are all some years away from being commercially viable on a large scale. Car pooling would be more practical and sensible - easier to implement and does not cost anything.

It was Gov't that at one time was insisting on MTBE as a gasoline additive and now California is banning MTBE, after millions have been spent by private enterprise to develop MTBE facilities. Have a look at MX stock to see some of the effect this has had on the methanol market...

Oil and gas will be around for a long time yet. NG powered vehicles may be an option. There is still lots of NG around. In addition, NG can be shipped by tanker if required... if the price is right...

Sam, The state of California is known as the left coast. If the NDP ever came to AMerica it could find it self at home in California.
