Gregor,
"To seek Him in this one dimension only is superficial and I feel God recognizes that...."

Indeed. How many times and ways have we heard it expressed, "If God would only first reveal himself to me I'd believe..."
I think people are spiritual by nature and yet they must have the physical senses satisfied first. Even those claiming to be spiritual under the guise of "religion" often need something physical to focus on even though God calls it idolatry.
During the great tribulation there will be many signs and wonders. I do obviously believe that miracles occur today as well, for we know God never changes.
A lady visitor in my Sunday school class was very taken with the "gold fillings" incident enthusiastically expressing her support.
We briefly talked about Matthew 16:4 because the news article she brought had the warning light concerning how they would be seeking for more of these miracles. This I have a problem with. God does not need to prove Himself in such ways. How would he be glorified in such a thing? To what purpose? Why would any Christian seek after such a thing?
The end result is now disrepute upon this man which reflects (unjustly) upon all Christians in the eyes of those who doubt in the first place.
Why must people feel like they have to add to God's plans or works?
God bless you through this weekend. Sundays a coming!
John

"John? does this mean that God will not draw men to him in the latter days by signs and wonders........P E R I O D ! E X C E P T by the crucified and resurrected Jesus Christ. I think so."

Acts 4
"29": And now, Lord, behold their threatenings: and grant unto thy servants, that with all boldness they may speak thy word,

"30": By stretching forth thine hand to heal; and that signs and wonders may be done by the name of thy holy child Jesus.

Acts 5
"12": And by the hands of the apostles were many signs and wonders wrought among the people;
"14": And believers were the more added to the Lord, multitudes both of men and women.)

IICor. 12
"11": I am become a fool in glorying; ye have compelled me: for I ought to have been commended of
you: for in nothing am I behind the very chiefest apostles, though I be nothing.
12. Truly the signs of an apostle were wrought among you in all patience, in signs, and wonders, and mighty deeds.

You have misred the following verse:
"A wicked and adulterous generation seeketh after a sign; and there shall no sign be given unto it, but the sign of the prophet Jonas."
Matthew 16:4

It is to an adulterous generation that no sign and wonders will be given. God has always used "signs and wonders" to communicate with humble men who sought the truth. It is to a wicked, adulterous and arrogant people that he withholds signs and wonders.

I share your skepticism about the "apparitions" in Yugoslavia and many other places, but my skepticism is not based upon a hatred of Orthodox and Catholic Churches, but simply upon the facts.

In the love of Christ

Emile

John 18 (In the garden at the time of Jesus's betrayal and arrest)

4 Jesus therefore, knowing all things that should come upon him, went forth, and said unto them, Whom seek ye?
5 They answered him, Jesus of Nazareth. Jesus saith unto them, I am he. And Judas also, which betrayed him, stood with them.
6 As soon then as he had said unto them, I am he, they went backward, and fell to the ground.
7 Then asked he them again, Whom seek ye? And they said, Jesus of Nazareth.

John 9

56 Your father Abraham rejoiced to see my day: and he saw it, and was glad.
57 Then said the Jews unto him, Thou art not yet fifty years old, and hast thou seen Abraham?
59 Jesus said unto them, Verily, verily, I say unto you, Before Abraham was, I am.

Exodus 3

14 And God said unto Moses, I AM THAT I AM: and he said, Thus shalt thou say unto the children of Israel, I AM hath sent me unto you.

In Canada, a beer company has adopted "I am" as part of their advertising scheme for some time now.
A major computer firm is utilizing "I am" in their advertising as a distinctive recently as well.

Why?

Some people I know mocked me when I commented on the beer advertisement.
Now they have came forward and mentioned the computer firms advertisement, recognizing the significance of the term "I am"

Coincidence or mocking one of the names of God?
