Darrell-

A run-off election might be a good idea- definitely worthy of serious consideration. Unless my understanding is faulty, the electoral college must elect with a simple majority. This might be a good justification for the direct election of the president. I still think something needs to be done to restrict the franchise.

A few years ago in CA, Democrat stormtroopers were going around to institutionalized mentally retarded people to get them to register to vote. One such defender of democracy explained they wanted to make sure the retardates could exercise their constitutional rights. The fact that to those people such rights were not distinguishable from a meridian of longitude meant nothing. Nor, I suspect, did the rights of the retarded mean anything- it was simply a power grab.

No wonder this nation elects such a reprehensible man as Bill Clinton as its president.

Larry

P.S. I'm also suspicious about allowing those who believe they are God- or goddesses- vote!
