Cruiser - Thanks for the kick in the butt! We needed that!

Right now, Nortel is a really exciting company to follow. The Succession Platform; The SBC-Ameritech-Bell Canada deal; Developments in DSL; HFC, Cornerstone and sales to ATT.

Incidentally, ATT is really worried about the SBC-Ameritech merger. I suspect Lucent is also concerned.

G'day all - Cruiser, I noticed the breakout too. However, the teaser is on the volume side. If the volume is perking up, to say 2MM, then people will really notice.

Businesswise, the breadth and depth of NT's portfolio should lend stability to the bottomline, unlike BAY old days when the cycle of feast or famine reigned. I think the topline upside will the turbo boost for us. Another plus is the improvement of the economy in Canada. While NT is a multinational, which should be affected less by the Canadian economy, many of her customers are Canadian based, so their improvements should be her improvement. The downside is that the general market environment is toppish. However, being a value growth stock, I see NT can weather the coming downturn better than most.

best, Bosco

Hey Cruiser, keep up the good work. As a long suffering Bay shareholder I am feeling quite good with Nortel Networks ! In fact I got called away (original position ala Bay) on my March covered calls and have since re bought a position in NT. I finally did ok on my original Bay shares but only average if you consider I held for three years. I have a much better feeling about the "new bay" (hehe), I mean Nortel Networks. This company is much more reasonably valued than either Cisco or Lucent and has a great history behind it and I intend to ride it for awhile..What is the new mantra "ride the light" fiber into the future????? Oh yea...I love John Lennon so the new advertising campaign works for me !!!

I had a tout letter the other day from the Gilder Technology Service. It described 9 companies whose stock to buy, with Gilder quoting the Intel, Microsoft model. For the names of the companies, of course, you divvied up the megabucks.

However, in his theme of "exploding bandwidth", one of these 9 stars to be was a telecom supplier, full suite of DWDM, had a voice/data high speed offer based on their own central switch and offered an internet over power lines product.

I wonder who that could be? :) This could well be affecting volume. Gilder has a big profile in techs.
