and remained a Lamarckian Would it blow your mind to know that I too am a Lamarckian? His theory that the living organisms on earth aquired characteristics during it's life and passed them on to the offspring is not compatible with the reproduction mechanism of life on earth. His theory is compatible with other things which I believe evolve over time, like ideas (memes) and computer programs (which are just memes encoded in a particular environment). These things do take on characteristics in response to their environment and they are passed on to the next generation (revision). TP
