You are denying the relevance of your own intelligent purposiveness Only on certain levels. At the scale of a microbe, I am a huge environment, At my scale, I am master of my domain (if it's okay with my wife), At the scale of my company I am a piece of the whole (and I would be pretty useless doing what I do without the support structure around me). At the scale of the country I am one vote, more or less. I am not trying to be cynical and I don't take the position that I (or anyone else) doesn't matter in this world. I just recognize that there are scales in which my intelligence is overwhelmed by burocracy or the sheer number of other, losely coordinated events which surround me. TP
