There is nothing in natural selection, or PE, which says that selection events have to be random. It just states that random is good enough to explain change. There is plenty of change in biology that is not random. Most change is the result of the mixing of genes whose usefullness has been tested and selected over the last 4 billion years.

We bombed Yugoslavia in order to find a mission :

the mission is to reverse the disastrous effects of the bombing without looking stupid, or putting US lives in danger.

Sounds a lot like "Mission Impossible" ...
