When's a good time to buy Fido.com

Well you can't teach an old dog new tricks. So watch out for Fido fakers. These would be companies with real earnings and real technology --- internet wanabes like IBM. So be sure to buy Inkatomi and not Novell.

To make up for the lack of any real product, I suggest looking for the presence of a CEO whose entire career is one of makeovers. I think the CEO of EGRP is really the model for this type of CEO. Especially look for a CEO who knows nothing about the business he is in and has a strong marketing team. So you can identify this type of player, look for someone who gives speeches about how his company will make Walmart's business model obsolete or crush AT&T in the dust with a new way to approach its customers that AT&T never thought about.

I suggest you scout out any used car salesmen in your locality who have decided to set up a web site and say sell bread over the internet. Get in on these opportunities early with your venture capital.

And be sure you jockey for position on any AMeritrade or Etrade offered IPO's.

Incidentally never never put your finger in Fido's mouth.
