When I used to do a lot of snorkeling on lakes in northern Wisconsin I could always find Walleyes schooling in the weeds. These lakes were the 'clearest' in the state. All on the Flambeau Indian Reservation. I used to go get my fishing gear and generally the answer was the same...a big 'skunk'...but, of course it a was always during the day. But, the ONE thing that I have NEVER figured out is that they were close to the surface...without a lot of weed cover in a crystal clear lake. This is NOT what the magazines say should be happening. So, I figured that if the magazines were wrong...maybe they would bite a high noon...
