Of course an option investor has nothing to gain by pumping up a company's potential. This guy is clearly hoping for some short-term profit. Best of luck to him.

It probably depends, in part, how long it takes the Street to realize that:

Regulation of the cable business ended last month. T's acquisition of TCI was extremely timely now that Cable has control over setting its rates.

The price of the $8B floated by T last week is a hell of a lot less than the price of the debt that TCI is carrying. Once T starts calling bonds bearing 12%+ interest rates, the Street should start to understand that the lowered cost structure will flow straight through to the bottom line.
