Pual,

Re: Whitney

What kind of graphics capability is anticipated in the Whitney chip set? Is it i740 class or is it higher.

Also the article you posted mentioned other integrated chip sets.

How do the graphics engines on those alternatives compare to Whitney?

I also know that S3 is coming out with an integrated chip set as well, is this for Intel platform or socket 7.

BTW, I agree that integrated chip sets will be key to the low end, I just don't know how Whitney compares to the alternatives.

Regards,

Kash J.

Paul,

My guess is that REAL TIME MERCED applications will be up and running on First Merced Silicon by September/October (1999) time frame.

Given that Merced hasn't taped out yet, your statement can be filed away as pure speculation.

Not bad. Intel will have first silicon on their next IMMENSELY BIG and IMPORTANT DELAYED processor around the time the chip was SUPPOSED TO COME OUT!
