Article in Canadian Business magazine (april 9 PG 95-102) about CableLabs. This company is owned by North American Cable companies, and is paid dues by its members. It created the DOCSIS for cable modems. They are currently developing "PacketCable", trying to strive for "everyone in one line" Telephone, TV, Internet, etc.

The interesting thing I thought was the CEO's (Richard Green) comments on the future of Cable. He feels that cable is capable of delivering 4 gigabits per second in the near future (3-5 years). Making the all in one a very real future. He talks about full integration of TV, Internet, telephone and computers. He also says that 500 gigabits per second will also be possible in the future. "You could download more than 100 feature length movies in less than a second" To me this seems a little bit out there.... but who knows.

A funny note to the story.. Green does not have Cable internet access in his city area... he has to use dialup LOL.

Regards
Jay
