<I love the "auto switch" that the Kohler does.>

Almost everyone can do an "auto switch". It's all a matter of how much anyone is willing to spend. I was going to do the "auto switch", but opted for ... if/when power goes out ... I flip a switch (like turning on a light) and it converts from one to the other. Saved me about $2,000, which I put into my pretty waterfall. It's a girl thing, I guess:-)

I've had so many $$$$$$$ involved with remodeling that generator & installation costs got muddled in my mind. Can't remember specific dollar amount for upgrade to "auto switch" - but was pricey.

I got 10,000 watt propane generator. Installation, etc - not including propane storage and actual propane ... was $7,800. A 500 gal tank and propane will set me back about another $1-2,000+.

Price of my generator went up $700 two days after I put order in. I'm "working" with generator guy, and invested in a few propane generators to sell down the road. All of the bigger propane systems are on back-order with July/August delivery now. Some companies are no longer taking orders for some of the smaller systems cause they're back-ordered into the spring of 2000.
