According to Friday's WSJ:

Tom Foy, Novellus's treasurer, said that "there's nothing to disclose or comment on" and that he has heard talk of a Novellus-Lam merger hundreds of times in his six years with the company.

(They used to be called "Lam-Novellus" merger rumors:)
That sounds slightly more emphatic than "no comment".

Thanks for your informative response. I currently hold a position and have protected myself with April 55 CCs. Due to the continued rich premium for April 99 60's @2 7/8, I'm tempted to add to my position. I'll probably wait until I can make a purchase under 55.

I suspect that an announcement of merger will depress this issue to 48-50. Without having access to the financials in the event of a merger, I still consider this issue an excellent short or long-term investment. JMHO
