..is Chomsky lying about this? I highly doubt it...

You tell me. I certainly don't see where Chomsky has a monopoly on "truth". He has an agenda as do those people in government who create and implement policy.

Rather than using "blanket logic", where you pick out a few events to substantiate an argument, I'm more interested in discovering WHY policy decisions were made and judging the efficacy and wisdom of those decision.

I don't care so much as for what was policy, but rather I'm more interested in WHY IT WAS POLICY and THE PERSON WHO MADE THE DECISION.

Iraq was provided Nuclear technology (which the Israelis proceeded to blow up) by the French. Where is Chomsky's outrage towards them? German corporations have been providing chemical weapon manufacturing technology to Iraq and Libya. Where's Chomsky's outrage towards them?

Ask yourself why the Israelis were assisting the US in negotiating with Iran at this very same time to do some deal-making in Iran-Contra? (You remember Iran-Contra don't you?) Were both of our nations REALLY TIGHT WITH IRAN AS WELL?? Afterall, we provided actual anti-tank missiles, spare parts and missiles for their US built aircraft left over from the Shah's regime. And these missiles were used against the Iraqis.

You offer only assertions and allegations rrman. It is hearsay evidence admissible only in the court of public opinion, not in a court of fact. You can hardly suggest that US and Iraq were so "tight" when you have Iraq attacking the Stark. There must have been a "falling out" somewhere.

Lord.... were international issues and policies as simple as you or Chomsky make them out to be. It would be so easy to figure out who are the good guys and who are the bad. (Of course, according the Chomsky, the US is the root of all evil on this planet....:0)
