DD, I'm sure that there are no Gypsum futures markets currently in operation. LOL But....is there a widespread shortage or is it a local problem ?

If there is a drywall shortage then we need to look at some manufacturers and see if there is a play to be made.

EDIT: Just found this article:

Is drywall running short?

March 18 - A shortage of wallboard that's causing concern in Eastern and some Southern states is beginning to raise some eyebrows in Colorado. Some say it's becoming a problem, others notice scant difference in the supply and demand in Colorado's booming economy.

"We've been on a (short supply) situation for a number of months,'' said Keith Bradshaw, sales manager of Gypsum Products Inc., a major supplier in the Denver area.

"I can only speak for myself. We can keep up with our regular customers, but I'm not seeking new customers.''

Bradshaw said his company has experienced shortages of specific wallboard (sometimes called drywall), such as water-resistant or exterior types, but he said it's not as bad as some parts of the country.

"In Texas there are reports of homes just sitting there for three or four months awaiting materals, but it hasn't been that bad here.''

Amy Friend, spokeswoman for Atlanta-based The Home Depot, a national chain of 779 stores that supply home construction supplies, said Wednesday that some of its stores are rationing supplies to customers, but that isn't going on in Colorado.(cont)
