On an average household income of 785 bucks, is this really the demographic most highly sought by advertisers? And how much discretionary capital are these people really going to have to spend on merchandise hawked over the net? The concept works great for Microsoft though, since each individual would have to buy an operating system.

There ae built in interpreters to convert to foreign languages readily available already. This should not post a problem. They are free downloadables at the MSFT update site. Don't take this to imply that I don't think these prices are ridiulously priced however. Good Luck, Lee

Gene, Good analysis. You are right that there will be more network devices in the future and that will kill the pc. Also, it may not be good for software cos. Instead of a box loaded with software, I see the net as a place where you "store" your software in a secure environment away from your desktop. I think future PCs will look more like tv remotes than bulky towers. Of course, we'll still need keyboards and monitors, though voice will eventually become practical and a tv set is a good monitor. The language problem is a major one and the translators I have used have been mediocre, to say the least. I do believe pc sales will continue to grow in units, but it will be the cheaper units that sell. The high end will soon be $1000. And there ain't no profit margin for anyone when that occurs.
