Barron's had had many articles and mentions re market being overpriced, nasdaq being very overpriced, a few nasdaq stocks very ridiculously overpriced, and it repeatedly pointed out Dell and Berkshire Hathaway and some internet stocks as the clearest examples of overpriced stocks. I took a very big short position as I had a long position in other stocks-unfortunately many foreign or small cap tech- and wanted to hedge. Dell has gone up over fourfold. My longs are not doing very well. Dell has proved it could increase revenues, profits, market share and stock price. Its products have gotten good reviews. Its computers are not the cheapest-but some perceive them as good value. I, along with many others, used to buy (only 16 years ago) very much less powerful computers for $10,000. So, many will now spend $1,000 to $3,000 for a fine Dell computer-and not be concerned that they could buy a different computer for $400-$2,000 elsewhere. If Dell continues to go up much longer, I will be forced to sell unless some long on this board who has made a fortune changes his mind re Dell and makes me a loan.
