Yawn.

Linux is consolidating the fragmented Unix SERVER market; it has ZERO impact on any of Mister Softie's revenue streams: desktop client, NT server, or their associated apps. Windows 2000 Server, whenever it comes out, will not be perfect. But it will be good enough to steal significant share as an ecommerce platform. Contrarily, Linux has eaten its parents, nothing more, nothing less.

Take Red Hat public and try to attack Microsoft head on in corporate computing. It will fail miserably, as Netscape has found out (albeit, a $9 billion dollar failure).

Speaking of which, Microsoft should just publish their core source code. It'll get the DOJ and those insufferable and cowardly state AGs off its back. Who the hell cares anyway? No one will touch the stuff unless there's some profit potential to play around with Dollar Bill's crown jewels. There isn't. Besides, Microsoft can always hold back a non-core component or two... you know, things nobody cares about or needs like device drivers or the GUI...
