Maybe I just read threads that are prone to spamming <G> , but I am thankful to SI for whatever they can do to lessen the annoyance.

Having said that, it does sound like more of an explanation could be sent to those who run afoul of the spambot.

Actually, I too have been caught in the automated procedure. And it does give you a warning, sort of. In my case I was just trying to get out of the darn thing using the <back> button, and when I got to the screen where I was originally posting a (spam) message I used the <return> key instead. And WHAM, it nailed me. There is no second warning and there are no instructions on how to avoid the problem (other than not spamming). Like Chuzzlewit, I was posting a serious message to others, only in my case it was about a new tout that had shown up on some threads. Oh well, all's well that ends well I guess.

Perhaps some tweaking of the bot's messages are in order.

In any event, we're all far better off with such tools than we'd be without them.
