The ramifications of the whole Y2K thing are hard to grasp. On the one hand some companies are freezing new systems, but on the other hand Oracle has benefited from replacement of legacy systems.

I don't think Oracle can find much dollar growth in the relational database market. They already have that one by the throat, and Microsoft have changed everyones price expectations, notwithstanding the fact that their product is not in the same league.

Oracle's growth may or may not pick up, but I am sure of one thing. I think it's a lot loss predictable than many others seem to believe.

Concerning y2k -

I bought some orcl jan 2001 35 calls recently. Could be big upside. Thinking of buying more but not sure if y2k thing will get worst. Also concerned with dip (inflection point) in erp market (ala orcl, sap, peoplesoft, etc.). Perhaps orcl in a slight better position due to diversification and internet base. Don't know. Any insights.
