Digital video porn--now that was a great business,
at least for a year. Probably a glut of it now tho.

I had been thinking how to get into broadcast
weather--right now I'm a fed meteorologist,
but would be cool to be a private met and
upload a daily mpeg weather briefing to
the net for my region. That kind of thing
could be popular once folks get their cable
modems or DSL.

Even started a thread when I started to
think seriously about quitting my job...
those teevee mets make good money, and most
of the time they fail to mention the
interesting weather of the day...way overpaid,
tho I'm not too sure a weather website would
rake it in...I'd be competing with the free
forecast from my old employer...

here is that thread (dead now) but you never
know, might someday get the balls to walk out.
We had a computer fella here who's job was cut,
he had to take a serious pay increase when he
left (he had real skills). Forecasting weather
on the other hand is a bit lame.

To All, Not to worry, chip companies are doing great. <g> prodigy.excite.com

Odd that nobody considers Micron Tech a major chip company. Or Motorola. Oh, I forgot, they had or are having lousy quarters, so they don't count.

Edlestone is the guy I debated in The Business Journal of Silicon Valley a few years back. His doofus thinking on Atmel was so bad, I thought he would be run out of the business by now. <G>

This article gives a clue as to the way analysts think. Chip cos. are doing well if they beat the new, lowered estimates. No mention of the fact that even if Intel comes in at Edlestone's number, eps will be down sequentially. I know that INTC is trying to run the bogus seasonal argument, but that shouldn't fly with analysts who, if nothing else, should be familiar with Intel's past eps. No mention of the fact that TXN is doing well because it sold its DRAM fabs. Just a dumb article.
