jnb3 - A lovely analysis - I enjoyed it. Q: When Gerster says that the "network" will supplant the PC - what does he mean by "network"?

Bachman,
Hi!!!

RE: DELL & IBM = synergy at work

What a marvelous bit of research and effort ...And, the beauty of it all...it makes sense...There is a great deal of talk up here concerning this...as you are probably aware...I live in the center of IBM territory...have heard speculation of this since early Fall...Yesterday another Beamer spoke of some of the conditions at the farm stand where we go early morning for coffee and DELL conversation...Service abroad is a large consideration with expansion being as rapid as it currently appears...Also, with IBM possibly not competing on bids...Interesting huh?? Many factors here...I also brought a copy of the "Nashville Expansion" to the stand...when he saw the size of the facility....He freaked..

Best, kemble

3 thanks for the links. The prospects of DELL manufacturing IBM's PC has kept me in DELL. Also, once the parts deal was announced my opinion of DELL changed over night. Now with DELL announcing greater production facilities we can start to added two and two together and speculate on an IBM/DELL manufacturing deal. Even if the above deal doesn't happen, more production facilities is bullish sign in itself.

That said, next earnings is the key for me, DELL has to come through.
Call me short sighted, but time is a very important factor in my investment decisions. I will not sit on this ton of money waiting for DELL and the PC sector to turn around next year, not with the shift that I'm seeing and Y2K looming ever large on the horizon.

Greg

Bachman: <<DELL & IBM = synergy at work>>

A GREAT analysis. It all makes sense to me. I still feel that DELL is undervalued and may add to my position in the next few days. IMHO, once everyone understands what's happening, the price will be MUCH higher.

Best Regards,

Scott
