optio imverstor mews letter. Since AMERICA ONLINE INC announced its $4.2 bln offer to buy
Netscape Communications Corp. last November, shares of the third
company in the deal, SUN MICROSYSTEMS INC, have surged 75%. In
November, when AOL revealed its plans to buy Netscape, it also
announced a side deal with Sun, which will market and sell
Netscape's corporate software and sell network servers to AOL. AOL
and Sun also plan to work together on software for the corporate
market, based on Netscape's and Sun's software code, and on AOL
services. Sun's shares at that time the deal was announced were
trading around $71.3125. This week, Sun's shares have risen to
fresh highs each day. (Reuters 01:50 PM ET 04/01/99)
