NOT EXACTLY! To paraphrase a recent set of Hertz (not megahertz) commercials, an earlier set of exploratory "prototype" serial numbers were included on a large number of their early 0.25 micron feature size devices with out any announcement or public warning.

Intel has stated it.
I've seen the link but don't have it handy.

Best for overclocking now is 300A PPGA in slot 1 (via ASUS slocket), Asus P2B or Microstar 6163.
