Also, RNWK's products not really optimized for broadband, either. I don't understand what you mean by that. Could you explain where they fail on that score? Their servers and clients have have always been able to stream data at broadband speeds. What more do they need? example (and note that all the producer tools are designed to scale to high-bandwidth clients): real.com Admittedly, the network itself is often not ready for the amounts of data transmitted by streaming media, but Real seems to be tackling that issue. Several news stories indicate that Real is working closely with interested network providers (in which AOL, significantly, has not participated) and with cache-server vendors like Inktomi to create greater capacity in the backbone for rich media.
