Seagate Software Certifies Vixel 1000 Hub With Seagate Backup Exec Shared Storage Option

Seagate Software has tested and approved end-to-end configurations for leading Fibre Channel SAN hardware vendors. These rigorous tests result in a configuration that seamlessly works in a Fibre Channel SAN environment and includes certification of the Vixel 1000 Hub along with Seagate Backup Exec for Windows NT with Shared Storage Option, an Emulex or Qlogic host bus adapter, and an ADIC or Exabyte autoloader.

Within a SAN, backup traffic no longer needs to pass over the main network, but is off-loaded to a separate, confined SAN. A dedicated Fibre Channel - Arbitrated Loop within a SAN provides the flexibility to run backup operations more frequently, instead of restricting backups to off-peak network times. As a result, business productivity increases as network users no longer need to compete with the backup data traffic for network bandwidth.
