As I recall there was questionable support at home for such a questionable war....
I do believe that that is the reason for reluctance to send in ground troops now----

The War mongers did not like what happened back then at all.....

That is total nonsense. If we'd have occupied the North, the war would have been finished. We had the means, but never attempted to do it, for one reason: it would have brought in the Chinese. They had over 200,000 troops stationed in the North throughout the war.
