"I just received my new set-top box from the other evil empire - TCI cable. For $50 bucks a month" OT----IMO the entire communication structure will change over the next 5 years. As AT&T buys TCI and the local telephone companies open up to competition, we may pay one price for cable TV, Internet connection, local telephone and long distance. If the price is too high, a new company will run a fiber to your home or provide the same services over the air waves for a lower price. Ultimately the pricing pressures will be downward.
