EXCERPT of PRGY+IDT article below>>>>>I was hoping for a lead back into the article so I could highlight some points, thanks.

"I think when IP telephony first came into
the marketplace, a lot of people were
having conferences [titled] 'How an ISP
Can Become a Telco' because people felt
that ISPs would be the perfect partner,"
says Mordy Rothberg, executive vice
president, strategic development for IDT
Corp.'s (www.idt.net) Net2Phone service.

"[But] Internet telephony is not as simple as
just putting gateways through your network
and, boom, charging customers. If you
would say to a telecom company, 'Hey, be
an ISP, it's very simple--just set up a bank
of modems,' ISPs would laugh at that."

He adds that many ISPs don't really want to
become full-blown ITSPs and carry the
burden that goes along with becoming a
telecommunications provider, "they're
looking for services to distinguish
themselves from other ISPs." But, Rothberg
says, for "the ones that do [want to become
telcos], we have solutions for them as
well."

"IDT has a reseller deal with Prodigy
Internet (www.prodigy.excite.com), in
which the ISP will include IDT's
Net2Phone software on the Internet access
disks it provides to subscribers."

The deal
also will allow users to download IDT's IP
telephony software from Prodigy's website
for free, give it a try and then purchase time
by calling an 800 number.

Rothberg, says,
the two companies still are working out the
particulars of the relationship.
