yes, I wrote that because it's true. The best typists or the ones with the best typewriters didn't have a problem, but the equipment had to be redesigned to handle the maximum number of users and still standardize the product so they could be mass-produced cheaply.
Lots of things we take for granted, and inventions we use, are pretty stupid, and it takes a long time for the masses to see them as anachronisms and adopt something new. But that's what "the next tech boom" is always about. The internet has been around for twenty years or more, it's taken this long for it to replace snail mail.
