Actually, the Barron's article indicated that membership on the big board was not a prerequisite for membership in the Dow 30. A NASDAQ stock in the Transport Index was cited as an example.

Does it have to be limited by 30 ?? It began with less than 30 stocks, and why not go for more. More industries are coming up. Who would have thought of the Internet industry and its related stocks 10 - 15 years ago.
